Champion in delivering quality library services to inspire lifelong learning by expanding access to quality reading material, STEAM enrichment, Hiaki special collections, literacy development, and access to technology.
Department Services:
Since February 18, 2009, the Dr. Fernando Escalante Community Library has been a hub of accessible quality reading material, resources, Hiaki special collections, and exceptional enrichment opportunities. Coming in Fall 2022, we will officially open our free library at the Old Pascua at the Richey Resource Center.
We have a team of professionals trained to provide respectful, comprehensive, and consistent services in:
- A diverse, expertly curated collection of materials for patrons of all ages and reading levels.
- Free Access to Digital Library.
- Phone/tablet App to access Libby digital/audio materials.
- Readability – Reading intervention App to strengthen reading skills.
- Afterschool Homework Homebase. (New Pascua only)
- Early Childhood Literacy & Parenting Resources.
- Specialized support for families with children ages 0-5.
- STEAM Enrichment for all ages. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics)
- Technology Access. (New Pascua and Old Pascua locations)
- Fax, copier, computer, and internet access.
- Library Programming. (Crafts, story time, book club, & family programming)
- Summer programming. (Presentations, Challenge Activities, & Reading Programs)
- Hiaki Collection, a reference-only collection of over 350 items, including books from various authors that chronicle the Yaqui culture and heritage
